Meet Dr. Pete Holt, retired   

Dr. William K. Holt (Pete) is now retired.  Dr. Holt started practicing Veterinary Medicine in 1971 with Dr. E.W. Bloomquist in downtown Port Orchard, Washington.  He then purchased the 25-year-old practice one-year later.  Dr. Holt then practiced as a sole proprietor treating farm and household animals until 1978.  Dr. Dennis Christman (Denny) was welcomed into the practice in 1978, and together formed a partnership in 1981, which still exits today.  Together, the doctors built and moved the practice to it's present location.  

Dr. Holt receive his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in June 1971 and did his undergraduate studies at the University of Washington.  His Continuing Education interests were ophthalmology, soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, endocrinology, dermatology, infectious diseases, immunology, gastroenterology, endoscopy, diagnostic medicine and oncology.  Dr. Holt also performed show quality ear trims on Schnauzers, Pit Bulls, Doberman Pinchers, Great Danes, and Boxers.

Dr. Holt was born in Bremerton, Washington.  He graduated from South Kitsap High School and married his high school sweetheart, Kathy.  They have three children: Tom, Kirk, and Dan.  Tom is a Chiropractor in Port Orchard, Kirk is a Home Builder in Friday Harbor, and Dan is an Eighth Grade School Teacher in Tukwila.

Dr. Holt was raised in Port Orchard and feels a strong sense of community here..  He is a Charter Member of the Port Orchard Rotary Club and started its Youth Exchange Program in 1985.  He is a past President and a double Paul-Harris Fellow of the club.   Dr. Holt's recreational activities include cross-country and downhill skiing, racquetball, woodworking, family boating, and fishing.  Today, Dr. Holt maintains membership with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Washington State VMA, South Puget Sound VMA, American Animal Hospital Associations (AAHA), Washington State University Alumni Association, Port Orchard Rotary, Port Orchard Yacht Club, Louie Louie Yacht Yacht Club, International Fellowships of Yachting Rotarians, and Olympic Health and Fitness Club.
